What is a session like?
Sessions involve perspective shifting, nervous system regulation, and very little talking from you, in contrast to talking therapy. People describe it as being very relaxing as you listen to me talking through the hypnotherapy.
Because hypnotherapy allows the unhelpful habits, blocks, fears to be released from where they are generated~ from the subconscious, the effects are automatic, natural and lasting. And see how all areas of life transform in a positive way, as a result of the clearing of what was getting in your way.
‘I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect as I thought hypnosis meant being unconscious but it wasn’t like that at all….. when I think about the session now, I remember it with so much joy, I remember feeling like I could see things more clearly, like literally my vision was clearer, then I just felt light and kept laughing for the rest of the day! It was weird how happy I felt, and my boyfriend was worried about how I would sleep that night as he knew that we spoke about a massive trauma from my past but I slept well and for the first time SINCE I CAN REMEMBER, haven’t had the recurrent night terrors. Things have improved so much even after one session. I’m so excited for my next one.’- Sophie.
Hypnotherapy does not involve losing control or being unconscious. You are always in control of your mind & actions, & hypnosis describes a process that allows profound perspective & belief shifting whilst your mind is in a relaxed state, similar to when you are daydreaming, driving on autopilot or engrossed in a film. Therapeutic hypnosis is light, and you are conscious throughout (and not like that used in stage hypnosis!)
It feels most similar to a guided meditation, but with more specific language & technique.
